Rotarian of the Year
Rotarian, Chief John Hickey was named Rotarian of the Year by club president, Stacey Rozzo at the recent Installation Dinner.  Chief Hickey has served the community of Champion in so many ways as the head of the Township Fire Department.  He has also been a dedicated Rotarian. Chief Hickey is a past club president, has served as chairperson for several committees, and has been recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow – one of the most prestigious service awards a Rotarian can achieve.  Chief Hickey is truly dedicated to the betterment of the community through service. Chief Hickey operates with a servant’s heart in all his roles. Especially this past year, he has supported the club board and membership with guidance, concern, and friendship. He leads by quiet example. Chief Hickey is a role model and mentor, living the Rotarian ideal of “Service above self”.

Installation Dinner
The 2021 Installation Dinner of the Rotary Club of Champion was held recently. Newly installed officers and committee chairpersons pledged their dedication to specific roles that all contribute to the success of the club. Each Rotarian recommitted themselves to the goals of Rotary at local, district, and international levels. The fellowship was tremendous as club members were able to reflect on the past year and revitalize themselves for the coming challenges of the upcoming Rotarian year including the Rotary Remembers event.

Rotary Remembers is the next great community event on the calendar, Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Champion High School Stadium. The community is invited to this FREE event featuring music, frontline heroes, and fireworks.

The community is invited to join us at Rotary Remembers to honor essential workers, friends, and family members who have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Paper luminaries are available for purchase in honor of your loved ones and will be placed on the football field for display. More information can be found by visiting The Rotary Club of Champion's Facebook page.
