Story Trail at Mauthe Park
The Rotary, along with the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, City of Struthers and Sunstone Garden dedicated the Story Trail at Mauthe Park on December 14th. The Rotary chose this project as it's part of Rotary District 6650's Grant Program
Irisa Green, Rotary Environmental Chair and owner of Sunstone Garden, explains "The Mauthe Park Story Trail is a unique interactive experience using storybooks provided by the Library of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley. The Story Trail is a great opportunity for local families to connect with nature as they stroll along a path, reading each page and engaging in activities that immerse them in the natural beauty of Mauthe Park." The first book illustrated is Tracks in the Snow by Wong Herbert Yee. The stories and activities will be updated four times a year to correspond with each season, ensuring they remain relevant to the surrounding environment.
Michael Stepp, Strategic Communications Office from the Library added, "The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is excited about our strong Community Partnerships in Struthers and our work to foster a love of reading and to help partner with families to bring literacy programs to the Valley."
