The Rotaract Club at CCCTC worked on a special project this month – “Sole Hope”. Thousands of children in Uganda suffer from a crippling foot parasite called jiggers. Through education, medical care and shoes this project is aiding the Ugandan people to become jigger free, restoring health and hope for a future. The club cut out patterns for shoes using old jeans and made Care Kits made up of: safety pins (to remove the jiggers), neosoprin cream, bandaids, cotton balls, antiseptic wipes and stickers. The cutout patterns will be mailed to Uganda where they will be made into shoes using old tires. Pictured are members of the club, along with District Governor – Scott Schulick who visited the club to see their work. Dr. Kelly Darney from the Salem Rotary Club is the founder and advisor to this club.
