During the March 26th meeting of the Struthers Rotary Club, Rotarian Tom Baringer gave a concise explanation of the activities of the Rotary International Foundation as a prelude to describing the Paul Harris Fellow award granted to those who have made a contribution of time, talent or funding to the Struthers Rotary Club. The Club has awarded 61 Paul Harris Fellow awards in the past and this year one recipient was relatively new Rotarian Denise Loboy, a surprise to her at the meeting. The meeting group was joined by her family to help celebrate the honor and her award presentation was photographed by local photographer Frank Marr. Denise was thanked for the energy she devotes to the events sponsored by the Club as she has become instrumental to increasing the engagement of the community in Club events. Mary Ann Morell, host Rotarian, remarked that Denise is an “outstanding Rotarian, Denise goes over and above what is expected of her … she truly puts her heart and soul into everything she does.”.
The meeting then shifted to a presentation by Rotarian Mary Ann Morell to another recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award by the Club and announced that person to be ... Frank Marr. The meeting was then joined by Frank’s family and Mary Ann proceeded to describe the selfless activities of Frank as he routinely captures the “humanity of the moment”, making not just a picture of someone but forming a portrait of who they are. She thanked Frank for his many years of devotion to memorializing the events in the City of Struthers and surrounding communities. Frank makes himself available for - it seems - every event that happens in our area and provides cherished memories for those he graciously serves. She thanked him for his years of service and asked that he accept the Paul Harris Fellow award in honor of all those whose lives he has, and will, reach through his generosity.
