GOVERNOR'S CORNER
May 2023
Happy May!

My husband JC and I were honored to represent District 6650 at the District 7030 Conference in Grenada. The district covers 17 countries, multiple languages and cultures, and some amazing people. We attended a project fair and heard from 23 deserving Rotary clubs across their district. Our district has chosen to support two of those projects - one in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, and one in Stabroek, Guyana. I will be sharing about them as well as some other projects that your clubs could support at the District Conference.

Speaking of the District Conference, registration is now live! Some final tweaks are being made to the program but the Rotary Club of Canton, Conference Chair Jennie George, and I are all excited to welcome you to Canton June 16-17, 2023!
Friday, June 16 - we will have a casual social event hosted by the Rotary Club of Canton.
Taking place in Centennial Plaza in downtown Canton, Rotarians will be treated to appetizers and music provided by local band Yankee Bravo. There will be a cash bar. It should be a fun evening outdoors!
Hotel accommodations are available at a discounted rate at the Embassy Suites. Reservations can be made by checking out our event page - https://rotarydistrict6650.org/page/2023-district-6650-conference/

Saturday, June 17 - We will have a jam-packed day of inspiration beginning with registration and breakfast at 8am. The entire schedule can be viewed on the district conference event page here - https://rotarydistrict6650.org/page/2023-district-6650-conference/
We will conclude the day with a service project where we will make shoes for people in Uganda. This is part of a wonderful international organization called Sole Hope (https://solehope.org/). PLEASE BRING ANY OLD BLUE JEANS THAT YOU HAVE. We will be cutting these up to make shoes!!
There is no fee to register, but we are asking for a $20 donation that will go to Sole Hope. You can register here - https://www.crsadmin.com/eventportal/Registrations/PublicFill/EventPublicFill.aspx?evtid=a77e5b4d-105e-4111-a84e-44eda159328e

I look forward to seeing you at the Conference!
DG Michelle
